Elegy for Orion. ALMA Sounds Visual Concert at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art
An unprecedented visual concert was held in the Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art, where musician Diego Errázuriz and media artist Nicolas Quiroz visually and sonorously interpreted the Elegy for Orion, based on ALMA Sounds.
Commissioned by Enrique Rivera, curator of ALMA Sounds for the inauguration of the international FAB LAB conference and symposium, this event included the participation of Minister of Culture Ernesto Ottone and important players in the connection between culture and innovation from around the world, including ALMA Sounds in representation of Chile.
The concert was held in the Pre-Colombian Art Museum in a setting where, unlike indoor activities, we were able to break away from the classic setting of the space.
We placed Diego’s piano in the center of the hall and used two projectors pointing towards the surface of the roof of the museum’s inner patio, creating a dialog with the building, resulting in a metaphor on the collection of cosmic frequencies made by ALMA, turning the Museum of Pre-Colombian Art into a temporary antenna. This project’s technique was resolved by waudiovisual, under the direction of Andrés Salinas.
